Plants may seem commonplace, yet through the changing seasons they reveal a rich visual language of form, line, texture, and colour. Through botanical art, the veins of a leaf, the structure of a flower, and the rhythm of stems and foliage can be translated into a delicate and expressive image, allowing us to appreciate the sculptural beauty of nature and rediscover poetic charm in everyday urban life.
WONG Hiu-yan graduated from the Department of Environmental Science, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and worked at the Shiu-Ying Hu Herbarium. She is also the author and illustrator of Botanical Illustrated Guide to Hong Kong Native Plants. In this Art Talk, she will share how botanical art transforms plant structure, colour, and spatial relationships into images rich in beauty and imagination. Plant lovers and visual art enthusiasts are warmly invited to join us.
